Chandigarh: The CBI has booked nine top officials including director KK
Bhutani of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research
(NIPER) in a scam of crores of rupees on Friday.
Meanwhile, two teams of CBI raided the NIPER building and seized more
than 50 files related to accounts and research. The teams have also
seized the offices of nine accused officials. A senior CBI officer said
no accused was arrested till now and they will all be summoned for
joining the probe at CBI headquarters, sector 30, shortly.

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team is conducting a raid at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Mohali, Punjab.
The CBI has also booked KK Bhutani, officiating director of NIPER, along with eight others under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC.
The raids at the campus are on since 7 am.
CBI sleuths also carried out raids at the residences of officials. CBI sources said that they had a complaint that the funds granted to the institute for research were diverted and used for various other purposes. The case was registered after preliminary investigations.
Several NIPER officials are also being grilled by the raiding CBI teams.
