CBI arrests NIPER Mohali Director Dr. KK Bhutani

CHANDIGARH: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested Dr KK Bhutani officiating Director of NIPER Mohali following a raid conducted today morning in the offices and residences of Officiating Director, Registrar and various other staff and faculty of the Institute. The Registrar of the institute has also been taken to CBI office in Chandigarh for investigation.

It was after a prolonged investigation ordered by Hon’ble High Court of Punjab & Haryana regarding fund bungling amounting to Crores of Rupees in which all the above mentioned officials were the accused that finally the prime investigating agency’s officials conducted raids, sealed offices and arrested various officials in connection with the same .

Ironically, NIPER has been in the middle of controversies ever since the Dr KK Bhutani took over charge of the Institute and things got further aggravated after illegal appointment of registrar which was quashed also by the hon’ble High Court of Punjab & Haryana.

There have been numerous such instances where rules as laid down have been brazenly violated by these officials of NIPER, Mohali and the Institute had virtually become a hub of court cases, HR violations, oppression of students’ and employees alike.NIPER is without permanent director since 6 years.

It is also expected that this is just the beginning of more positive changes for NIPER, Mohali in coming times as these officials were the prime reason for non allocation of funds which has seriously affected research work at the premier Institute which incidentally is also an Institute of National importance.
