About 20 agitating pharmacy students from NIPER institute have
decided to go on a hunger strike starting Friday to press their demands
that include better campus infrastructure, better faculty to student
ratio, among others.
According to students, they had discussed these issues with Raja
Sekhar Vundru, a joint secretary in the department of pharmaceuticals,
Union ministry of chemicals and fertilizers, but nothing happened. “He
told us on phone he would be here with a technical team on October 3.
But since he has not yet addressed our issues, we have no option than
going on a hunger strike. The number of students going on hunger strike
will increase if our demands are not met,” said a student.
